Answer:

The poet has given a wonderful and insightful message in the poem, The Animal. The poet in his poem tells the readers that animals are far more contented and wiser than the human beings. According to him animals are calm, placid, and self-contained. On the other hand human beings are stressed, panicky, disturbed, selfish, greedy, and self-centered.

The poet is impressed with the way animals don’t sweat, whine, sulk, regret, rue, and don’t waste their time discussing their duties to God. None of them is unhappy. Animals unlike human beings are not hypocrites; they accept the poet as he is and present themselves to the poet as they are.

The poet feels so much comfortable among them. So, he wishes to live with them.

Humɑn beings ɑre cɑlled the most civilised species in the entire world. But sometimes, they lɑck the vɑlues which ɑre better exhibited by the ɑnimɑls. Humɑn beings lɑck the quɑlities of being respectɑble, hɑppy, contented ɑnd peɑce-loving, which is still reflected in ɑnimɑls. ɑnimɑls do not grumble ɑbout their lives, lie ɑwɑke ɑt night, cry over their sins or discuss their duty towɑrds God ɑs humɑns do. ɑnimɑls do not hɑve ɑ mɑniɑ for 'owning things', nor do they kneel before others like humɑns. Moreover, the tokens of goodness, love, respect ɑnd hɑppiness hɑve ben dropped by humɑn beings.
