The human heart is myogenic and the conduction of the heartbeat is originated by the modified cardiac muscles which are the nodal tissues showing auto rhythmicity. There are two types of heart, neurogenic and myogenic. The neurogenic heart is initiated by the nerve impulse while the myogenic heart is initiated by the heart muscles itself. The SA node which is also called the pacemaker generates the action potential and is responsible for initiating the contractile activity of the heart. It usually generates 70 to 75 impulses or action potentials per minute and any deviation from this shows that our heart is not in a normal condition.

Therefore, we can say that the human heart is an inbuilt clock that beats continuously till the time we die.
