Answer:
In a physical sense, we humans do have the power to save ourselves from destruction. We can choose not to launch nuclear warheads, chemical munitions, and contaminating substances that would kill off our species from the earth. So far, we've managed not to destroy ourselves, and I suppose we can stop ourselves from crossing that line. In a spiritual sense, we don't have the power to save ourselves. We're all imperfect, descended from two impeccably created individualities who allowed themselves to get twisted and corrupted. We all start life with a handicap that we're helpless to overcome. It's called sin, and it drives each of us to act selfishly and to defy and mutiny against the loving, righteous God who created us. Thankfully, God transferred us a cure for sin. The cure is Jesus. He lived a perfect, pure life. He took all of our sins on himself and, with his prosecution, killed them. Now, he offers us an amazing trade we let him take down our sins, and he gives us his perfect righteousness in exchange. With perfect righteousness from Jesus, we're saved from destruction and good to enter God’s perfect heaven, a place of eternal joy, after we die.
