Humans were not independent firs to begin with.Humans started off as solitary nomadic hunters and gathers. Then humans then domesticated wild amimals and plants.settled down to a sedentary agriculture and animal husbandry life style. Excess foood could be stored like wheat in a warehouse, cattle in farm for milk and meat. Thus some people could move out of food related occupations in to other jobs such as artisans Tool makers,Military. Soon Commerce developed. The farmer bartered his agriculture produce with the craftsman who made farm tools. when people live as a collective in tribe, a village , a community, a society, they need some protections, basic rules of interactions for personal and collective life to be useful.
