Answer:
Explanation:
(1) Humans were not interdependent on each other to begin with. Humans started off as solitary nomadic hunter-gatherers.
(2) Then, people domesticated wild plants and animals. Settled down to a sedentary agricultural and animal husbandry lifestyle. Excess food could be stored such as wheat in a warehouse, cattle in a farm for milk and meat. Thus, some people could move out of food-related occupations into other job specializations such as artisans, toolmakers, the military.
Commerce soon developed. The farmer bartered his agricultural produce with the craftsman who made farm tools.
(3) When people live as a collective in a tribe, a village, a community, a society, they need some basic protections, basic rules of interactions, for personal and collective life to be meaningful.
At the most basic, these are as follows.
(3a) The principle of the Sanctity of Life. Law and order. Security.
Without this, life is edgy, meaningless, nothing existential makes sense.
(3b) The principle of the Sanctity of Property. Protection of property rights.
Without this, nobody will bother to work, there’ll be no commerce, because whatever you’ve worked for, your home, your land, your life stock, your tools, can be seized by other people at whim.
(3c) And when commerce developed into a level of complexity, the Enforcement of Contracts.
Without this, commerce will be limited by low-confidence and distrust when people engage commercially.
When people engage in commerce, they want to engage with high confidence with their business counterparts. Confidence = Control + Trust. Enforcement of Contracts is the control lever.
(4) To provide Law and Order, protection of property rights, and the enforcement of contracts, the concept of the State was born. Government. Then, questions on how best to govern, who gets to govern, etc.
(5) This is the story of human interdependence.
