Humans get infected by pathogens but vectors do not even though they carry it.Why???

the word vectors it self defines to carry. It is not always that the humans are infected. Even the humans are carriers in few disease. Such as Typhoid.You may have heard the example of Typhoid Mary who spread the disease to many through her food. AIDS is another example where humans acts as carriers.
