Answer:

Answer: The young seagull was afraid to fly because it was its first flight. ... Therefore, all young birds may feel afraid to make their first flights. Similarly, a human baby would also find it a challenge to take its first step. Ques: “The sight of the food maddened him.” What does this suggest?

Answer:

Explanation:

Hunger is that vital force that instigates one to accept challenges in one's life. It is absolutely true with reference to the story His First Flight written by Liam O Flaherty.

The young seagull had not eaten anything since a long time. His  hunger was only intensified when he saw his mother tearing a piece of fish just the way he loved to do.

This sight absolutely maddened him and he was ready to do anything to satisfy his hunger. It was this irresistible hunger that compelled the young seagull to fly.

His mother had flown towards him with a piece of fish but halted almost within reach of his beak.

Maddened by hunger, he leapt at the fish completely forgetting his fear of flying.

As we have seen in the case of the young seagull same is the condition with all other living beings.

We are basically driven by hunger ( may it befor  food, inner satisfaction, freedom, for achieving our goals) only then we come out of our shells and accept even the grimmest of situations and bring positive outcomes of our labour.
