The reaction taking place between barium hydroxide and ammonium chloride is an endothermic reaction, which is characterised by a fall in Temperature.. Reaction between barium hydroxide ( Ba(0H)2 + NHCl( ammonium chloride) is a double displacement gas evolution reaction .

Hence, ammonium salt release ammonia gas when reacted with a base and heated .
