Ruskin Bond’s grandfather finally succeeded in caging the python by luring it to enter a cage filled with food and a mirror.

EXPLANATION:

Ruskin Bond’s grandfather had a pet python. It horrified Aunt Mabel so much that grandmother ordered it to be caged immediately. The python would simply not enter the cage as it loved prowling in the garden. Grandfather then hit upon a plan to trap it.

He took a big cage. At one end of it he fitted a mirror. He then filled the cage with food comprising a juicy chicken and several delicacies. He then fitted the entrance of the cage with a trap door and kept the cage in the garden.

The first few days nothing happened but finally the python took the bait. It entered the cage and was delighted to see its reflection. He instantly fell in love with his image and it became very easy for grandfather to trap him.
