Q1. Give Answers:-

1. State the merits of Whittaker's method of Classification.

Ans. The Classification system that whittaker's has adapted is totally based on scientific foundation .

2. Write The Characteristics of Viruses .

Ans:

  • Viruses are extremely minute of the size range of 10nm to 100nm
  • They are on the border line of living and non- living .
  • They are 100 times smaller than Bacteria and are visible only through the electron microscope.
  • Though they are not considered as living ,they can make replica of their own .
  • Most of the Viruses are pathogenic, they cause diseases in plants and animals .

3. Explain nutrition in fungi

Ans. Most of the fungi are saphrophytic in their nutrition . They absorb the nourishment from dead and decaying matter . By Talking the organic matter from Dead bodies of plants and animals, fungi Survive.

4. Which Living Organisms are included in Kingdom Monera?

Ans:

  1. All the Living organisms are belonging to kingdom monera are unicellular.
  2. The mod of nutrition in them is either autothrophic or hetero trophic.
  3. All of them are Prokaryotic and thus they do not have well formed nucleus. The nuclear membrane and the cell organelles are absent in them .

1) State the merits of Whittaker's method of Classification.

♦️Ans- The merits of Whittaker's method of Classification were:

  • It was the most acceptable method of Classification because it classified the organisms according to their major characteristics.
  • It placed the organisms according to phylogenetic placing of different groups scientifically.
  • The evolution is clearly described with respect to cellular organizations, modes of nutrition etc.
  • The classifying of unicellular eukaryotes solved many contradictions.

2) Write The Characteristics of Viruses .

♦️Ans- The characteristics of viruses are:

  • They are metabolically inert, it means they can perform all necessary life processes in the host body only.
  • They invade and multiply in host body.
  • They are not made of cells neither they have cell organelles.
  • They can be crystallized.

3) Explain the Nutrition in Fungi .

♦️Ans- The nutrition in fungi is heterotrophic in nature because they don't have chlorophyll to trap solar energy. Basically, they obtain their food by absorption. They digest their food outside their body. In brief, the fungi consume dead and decaying matter. They release enzymes on them, and digestion takes place outside their body. Then they absorb this digestion food to obtain energy. This is also refer as extracellular digestion.

4) Which Living organisms Are Included in the Kingdom Monera?

♦️Ans- The kingdom Monera includes all prokaryotes. They are primmitive unicellular organisms which don't have certain features that are found in eukaryotes. There are two major groups of Monerans:

  • Archaebacteria(ancient bacteria)
  • Eubacteria(advance/true bacteria)

Archaebacteria includes organisms like Methanogens, Halophills, Thermoacidophills etc. Eubacteria includes Common Bacterias, Cyanobacteria, Mycoplasmas etc.
