• A large number of gametes are released in the surrounding medium ( eg :- water ) where fertilization takes place.

• Examples :- Bony fish , Amphibians , most of Algae etc....

> INTERNAL FERTILIZATION:-

• It occurs inside the body of the female.

• The number of gametes produced is less . The male gametes are deposited in thebody of the female with the help of copulatory organ .

• Examples :- Repltiles , Birds , Mammals , Bryophytes and Tracheophytes ( Pteridophytes , Gymnosperms , Angiosperms ) etc...
