Solid on heating converts into liquid because on heating bond present between the particles of solid break down and their kinetic energy increases due to increase in temperature so their particles move away from each other and their gap increases. And thus, a solid converts into liquid on heating.
Hope friend, it will help you!
Thanks!

A solid changes into liquid by the process of melting. When the solid is heated, its temperature increases. The kinetic energy of its particles will also increases and they will starts vibrating about their positions. ... THIS happens because the solids are packed have a compact cnfiguration.
