Hydra shows a central cavity in its body called coelenteron (= hollow gut) functionally referred to as gastro vascular cavity. Mouth opens in this cavity and there is no other exit in it. However, this cavity remains continuous in the tentacles and, therefore, the tentacles are hollow.
