'X' is Propane & 'Y' is Propene .

X is saturated, while Y is unsaturated compound.Unsaturated compounds gives a sooty flame with lot of smoke & Saturated compounds give clean flame. Therefore X will give clean flame & Y will give Sooty flame .

hope it would be helpful

HEY MATE...
HERE'S YOUR ANSWER...

X has moleculor formula C3H8
which is of propane, which is a saturated hydrocarbon. whereas Y has molecular formula C3H6 which is of propene which is unsaturated hydrocarbon. moreover saturated hydrocarbon burns completely with blue flame and unsaturated hydrocarbon burns incompletely with yellow flame. thus x burns with blue flame ( saturated hydrocarbon )and y (unsaturated hydrocarbon ) burns with yellow flame.

structural formula of
X and y are in attachment
