HCl in stomach is responsible for killing pathogens or bacteria which enters through mouth by lowering the pH.It also help in activation of pepsin which in turn breaks proteins.If u r in higher class u may also note that HCl converts Fe3+ into Fe2+ ie it makes absorption of iron possible.
