Hydrogen being a highly inflammable gas and oxygen being a support of combustion yet water which is a compound made up of hydrogen and oxygen is used to extinguish fire. why?

this is because when hydrogen and oxygen are mixed in the form of water then there is a bond between them which do not support the burning of these gases. these gases only e burn when they are separated
