Why does hydrogen reduce cupric oxide (above in Electo series) and not aluminium oxide (lower)? ... It is all due to reduction potential values which is given in electrochemical series.

hydrogen can reduce copper oxide but not Aluminium oxide because Aluminium is highly reactive metal which react with oxygen to form Aluminium oxide which is a thin layer above the surface of aluminium which can't be reduced easily by reducing agent like hydrogen.
