32 is the molar mass of oxygen.

Know More:-

  • Hydrogen diffuses four times faster than oxygen has.
  • So the molar mass of oxygen is 32.

Proof:-

Based on Grahams law of diffusion we can say that hydrogen diffuses four times than oxygen.

Grahams law of Diffusion:-

  • At constant temperature and pressure rate of diffusion of a amount of gas is inversely proportional to square roots of its density.

r \propto \frac{1}{d}

r = date of diffusion

d = density of gas.

Now,

\frac{Vo}{Vh}

 =   \frac{ \sqrt{ \frac{3rt}{32} } }{ \sqrt{ \frac{3rt}{2} } }

 =  \sqrt{ \frac{3rt}{32}  \times  \frac{2}{3rt} }

 =  \sqrt{ \frac{2}{32} }

 =  \sqrt{ \frac{1}{16} }

 =  \frac{1}{4}

So, by this we can say that hydrogen diffuses four times than oxygen.

Answer:

%C= mass solute /mass solution x 100

%C = 40 /100 = 40%

to make it 50% add 20 g of solute

0.4 = 40 +X / 100 +X

X = 20 g

or boil the solution to withdraw water from the solution

0.5 = 40 /(100-X)

X = 20

withdrwa 20 g of water
