Hydrogen gas [h2] is a combustiable substance and oxygen [o2] is the supporter of burning but still water {h2o} is used to extinguish the fire . explain why ???

The elements, hydrogen and oxgen when chemically combined, form a COMPOUND H₂O. The compound of combined elements posses a whole new set of properties than that of its combining elements. When the elements are joined the lose their individual properties and start to posses a whole new set of properties.
