Solution

As

- log [H⁺]  =  5.4

[H⁺] = Antilog - 5.4

[H⁺] = 10⁻⁵°⁴

we can write it as

[H⁺] = 10⁻⁶ . 10⁺⁰°⁶.......................(i)

As log 4 = 0.6

thus 4 =  10⁰°⁶

from equation (i)

[H⁺] = 4 X 10⁻⁶ mol/l
