Hydrogen is in abundance around the sun because sun has sufficient gravity to retain hydrogen but earth being much small and it has no gravity around it .so, it cannot hold the air or hydrogen . That is why hydrogen doesn't abundance around the earth .

• But the escape velocity on the surface of sun is 620km/s.
• The escape velocity of sun is greater than escape velocity of earth and r.m.s velocity of hydrogen
• Also, the gravitational attraction of the sun is more than the earth.
• Hence hydrogen is in abundance around sun and less around the earth.
