Hydrogen in general does not have a neutron in the nucleus.

However, Hydrogen has two other isotopes - Deuterium and Tritium.

These have one and two neutrons in their nucleus respectively.

So your initial assumption about hydrogen not having neutrons is incorrect.

Vialia: Why they Don't have neutrons
SquareRoot256: They HAVE neutrons... its two isotopes deuterium and tritium have neutrons.
SquareRoot256: Protium doesn't have neutrons because it's mass no. is 1

So the proton accounts for the mass number... neutron cannot be accommodated.
