Answer:

It's the calorific value of the fuel, that governs the chemical energy out of a reaction on complete combustion with oxygen at standard conditions.. For hydrogen calorific value is 141.7 MJ/kg. On combustion of 1 kg of hydrogen, it releases 141.7 MJ of energy taking 100% combustion efficiency into consideration.

Less energy is released by the combustion of 1 gram of petrol compared to the energy released by the combustion of 1 gram of natural gas. The combustion of 1 gram of brown coal releases even less energy, just 16 kJ of energy. This means that if 1 g of natural gas were to undergo combustion, a maximum of 54 kJ of energy could be released.

  • As we know that hydrogen gas releases less pollutants than petrol.
  • On combustion, hydrogen gas is emitted per gram of fuel burned.
  • As compared to petrol hydrogen gas is a more efficient fuel.
  • One gram of hydrogen gas releases more energy than one gram of petrol on combustion.
  • As we know one gram of gas produces 54KJ of energy on combustion.
