Yes, it is true that Hydrogen sulphide gas burns in air and forms sulphur dioxide and water.

When Hydrogen sulphide gas is reacted with oxygen at a temperature around 200 degree Celsius, it gives out  sulphur dioxide and water.

Chemical reaction is expressed as the below equation.

2H2S(gas) + 3O2 ---> 2H2O + 2SO2
