the buildup of dams have resulted in various social issues like various social movements like Narmada bachao andolan Sardar Sarovar Dam Andolan have taken place ....


it has destroyed the habitats of various people living near by ..

also the multipurpose projects belt have failed to achieve the purpose for which they were built ..

they have triggered floods due to excessive sediment deposition at the bottom

that is why did the gap between rich and poor ....


they were only for the benefits of big industrialists...


also they were good to some extent as like..


they are used for storing water which can be used for various purposes like
irrigation; recreation
generation of hydroelectricity ...

recreation fishing navigation and so on ...
