a gas performs spontaneous combustion where as a candle is just a simple combustion

The main factor deciding the difference between the flame of the gas and that of a candle flame is- the burning of carbon particles

In case of a gas, suppose it is LPG which is made of hydrocarbons, complete combustion occurs, meaning the carbon particles in the gas are completely burnt. So,the flame of the gas is blue and is much hotter, because there are no unburnt carbon particles to absorb heat.

In the case of candle flame, the inner portion of the flame, called Luminous zone, has many unburnt carbon particles due to incomplete combustion. So, these unburnt carbon particles glow in the heat, giving the flame a yellow colour. Also, it is less hotter since the unburnt carbon particles absorb the heat of the flame
