The age of the youngest women is 41 years.

GIVEN

The average age of 8 women is 55. If there difference between the oldest 7 women is 3 and the youngest woman is 7 less than the second youngest.

TO FIND

The age of the youngest women

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Let the age of youngest woman = x

Average age of 8 women = 55 years.

We know that,

Sum of age of ages of 8 women/8 = 55years

Sum of ages of 8 women = 55 × 8 = 480 years

Now,

It is given that the

youngest woman is 7 less than the second youngest.

Age of second youngest = X + 7

And, The age difference between the oldest 7 women is 3.

Therefore,

Third youngest = x + 7 + 3 = x + 10

Fourth youngest = x+10+3 = x+ 13

Fifth youngest = x + 13+3 = x+16

sixth youngest = x + 16+3 = x+19

seventh youngest = x + 19+3 = x+22

Eighth youngest = x + 22 + 3 = x+25

Now,

x + x + 7 + x + 10 + x+ 13 + x + 16 + x + 19 + x + 22 + x + 25 = 440 years

8x + 112 = 440

8x = 440-112

8x = 328

x = 328/8

x = 41 years

Hence, The age of the youngest women is 41 years.
