Pitutary gland secreted growth hormone that is responsible for development of bones and muscles.excessive secretion of GH may lead to gigantism.
However growth hormone by itself don't directly promote growth.GH stimulates liver to produce growth factors or somatomedins. These somatomedins inturn promote the growth of muscles and bones.
The level of growth factors IGF1 is constantly identified by hypothalamus/pitutary/liver,and the process is stopped if the amount of growth factors is sufficient.
