HYPERTONIC: A solution in which the concentration of solutes added (ex. salt or sugar) is greater outside than in the cell
HYPOTONIC: A solution in which the concentration of solutes is greater in the cell
ISOTONIC : A solution in which the concentration of solute is balanced in and out of the cell
