The hypopharynx extends from the hyoid bonesuperiorly to the cricoid cartilage inferiorly. It is the most inferior of the anatomic subdivisions of the pharynx, beginning at the inferior border of the oropharynx and eventually connecting with the cervical esophagus at the cricopharyngeal muscle
