(I) A local magician was showing magic in a village street. He took egg shell and poured
a solution over it. As a result, effervescence were formed. When he took a burning
matchstick over it, it went off : (a) Identify the solution poured and the substance present
in egg shell. (b) Write its balanced chemical equation.
(ii) Draw a labelled diagram to show that acid solution in water conducts electricity.( Please draw only a diagram I will marks as brain list who send me drawing )​

Explanation:

  1. a)Egg shell is mostly composed of calcium carbonate. Carbonate ion reacts with an acid to give carbon dioxide effervescence. There are many acids like hydrochloric acid, acetic acid ( vinegar) , etc.. But hydrochloric acid is commonly available and is a strong acid thereby produces brisk effervescence of carbon dioxide.
  2. b) 2 HCl + CaCO3 ----->CaCl2 + C02 + H2O
