ANSWER

Given

Radius of enclosed four circles =7 cm

Diameter of a circle =14 cm

Length of rectangle =4(14)=56 cm [As four circles cover the length of rectangle ]

Width of rectangle =14 cm [As only one circle covers width of rectangle]

(a) Area of rectangle = Length × Width

=56×14=784 cm

2

(b) Area of enclosed circle =πr

2

=

7

×7×7

=154 cm

2

Area of enclosed four circles =4×156=616 cm

2

∴ Area of shaded part =784−616=168 cm

Answer:

Radius = 7cm

Diameter = 14cm

length of rectangle = 4d = 4(14) = 56cm

Breadth of rectangle = d =14cm

(a) Area of Rectangle = (l)(b)

Ar(rectangle) = (14)(56) = 784 square centimeters

Area of circle =

\pi {r}^{2}

= (22/7)(7)(7)

=154 square centimeters

(b) Ar(shaded portion) = Ar(rectangle) - 4Ar(circle)

= (784) - 4(154)

= 784- 616

= 168 square centimeters
