Oxygen is a gas.

When it combines with CARBON MOLECULES it forms carbon dioxide which is not that good but is used for photosynthesis by plants.

But when this oxygen combines with another OXYGEN MOLECULE it forms Ozone which is protecting us from harmful uv rays.

All the life is based on oxygen.
