The number is 72.

Questions said,“ I am a two - digit number, if 28 is added to me, I become a three - digit number and 63 is subtracted from, I become a one - digit number”

We have to find the number.

let a two digit number is P.

If 28 is added to P, it becomes a three-digit number.

It is possible only when adding 28 to P reaches to the least three - digit number.

we know, least number of three - digit number is 100.

∴ P + 28 = 100 ⇒P = 72

Now again, 63 is subtracted from P, it becomes one-digit number.

It is possible only when (P - 63) becomes largest one digit number.

∵ Largest one - digit number is 9

⇒P - 63 = 9

⇒P = 72

We see in both cases, we get 72 is the unknown number.

Therefore the required number is 72.
