a) Artificial Sweeteners : These are added to food items to enhance sweetness . The main advantage of using such sweeteners is that they have less calories and also they don't cause tooth decay. For example , Stevia is natural sugar free. Other common examples are Aspartime , Alitame.

b) Antioxidants : These are chemical substances added to oil and fats containing food items to prevent their oxidation . Common examples include BHA [ Butylated Hydroxy Anisole] and BHT [Butylated Hydroxy Toluene]

c) Antacids : These are category of medicines taken to neutralize excessive acid in the stomach that can cause discomfort and gastric ulcers . A very common example of this category is Milk of Magnesia [ Mg(OH)2] . Medicines in this class include Rentidine and Cimetidine.
