Hey bro,

Here's your answer,

Mm... this reaction has got a lot of elements. Therefore, it's better to do it by ion - exchange method.

This method involves writing the elements with their molecules separately and then balancing them.

Let's begin :-

LHS RHS

Hg - 1. Hg - 1

S - 1. S - 1

H - 2. H - 4

Cl - 1. Cl - 4

N - 1. N - 1

O - 3. O - 2

Now, let's start balancing it by starting with the element with the highest valency first.

Therefore, we begin with Cl , since it has a large amount of unequality on LHS and RHS.

➡️ For this, we ought to write the unbalanced reaction first. ⬇️⬇️

HgS+HCl+HNO3----->H2HgCl4 + NO +S + H2O

➡️ Next, we try balancing Chlorine by inserting 12 in the LHS and 3 in the RHS :-

HgS+ 12HCl + HNO3--->3H2HgCl4+ NO+S+H2O

➡️ Now, let's attempt to balance hydrogen.

HgS+ 12HCl+ 2HNO3--- > 3H2HgCl4 + NO +S+ 4H2O

➡️ Next, we move to balance oxygen molecules.

HgS+ 12HCl+ 2HNO3 ---> 3H2HgCl4 + 2NO + S + 4H2O

➡️ Further, we have only S left to be balanced and we do so by inserting a 3 in the LHS and RHS.

3HgS+ 12HCl+ 2HNO3 ---> 3H2HgCl4 + 2NO + 3S + 4H2O

Thus, the balanced chemical equation is :-

3HgS+ 12HCl+ 2HNO3 ---> 3H2HgCl4 + 2NO + 3S + 4H2O

✔️✔️

Hope this helps you Bhai!!! ☺️☺️☺️
