I am five times as old as you were when I was as old as you are. The sum of present ages of both is 64. Find the present ages.

Plz answer bcz my maths teacher said that if u will solve this u will get 20 marks from school in maths in board X

hey mate!!!

let person A be x and person B be y.

now,.

x+y= 64.....(1)

there fore, y= 64-x

also,

x= 5[y-(x-y)]....(2)

x= 5y- 5x+5y

x+5x= 10y

6x= 10y

now,

substituting value of y,

6x= 10(64-x)

6x= 640-10x

10x+6x=640

16x= 640

x= 640/16= 40

therefore person A is 40 years old

substituting his age in (1)

x+y= 64

40+y= 64

y= 64-40

y= 24

therefore person B is 24 years old.
