A biophysical environment is a biotic and abiotic surrounding of an organism or population, and consequently includes the factors that have an influence in their survival, development, and evolution.

The journal scope involves but not limited to study of all the components of Earth system, i.e. land, atmosphere, biosphere, cryosphere and hydrosphere (freshwater and marine), exchanges between these components, environmental quality monitoring, ecological and human risk assessment, resource management and conservation and major themes in ecology, such as conservation biology, global change, environmental pollution, wildlife and habitat management, land use and management, aquatic resources, restoration ecology, and the management of pests, weeds and disease.
