I am going upstairs for a moment. If that is the lady, tell her I will not be long. It won’t do to give her the impression that I am waiting for her. (1) Who speaks these words and to whom ? (2) Who is the ‘lady’ here? Why is she expected to visit the speaker ? (3) What does the speaker try to pretend here ?
