I have always had an edge in this process of learning Kannada as my Grandmother had been a lecturer at Maharajas College Mysore for almost a decade and has always taught me the ways of the language. However , I will generalise my answer to suit your needs.

Personally, I would not encourage websites as a first stepping stone if you wish to cultivate Kannada language in your children. There are several reasons for this. Firstly , many websites adopt wrong language formats and also have very varied levels of standard in their operations which may be quite difficult and less user friendly. Also , they sometimes are made completely incorrect with common errors being confusing Telugu Script to be Kannada Lipi and using highly Sanskritised words in place of General diction.

I have always learned by listening to old Kannada classic songs and seeing movies to improve spoken language and vocabulary.In addition to this , I purchased the series of Kannada language books from the bookstore to learn the scripts and grammar. I would highly recommend these options before reaching out onto a website.
