Fitness is very important always. Nation that has fit people will be healthier and stronger than hat nation whose people are not fit. Fit body, fit mind, and fit environment depend on one another. Only people who are physically fit, can have fit mind; and only people with fit mind and fit body can make environment fit.

To promote fitness and health among the people of India, Prime Minister Narnedra Modi, launched Fit India Movement on August 29, 2019, which is also the National Sports Day and marks the birth anniversary of famous Indian hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand.

Giving speech to a huge audience at Indira Gandhi Stadium, he appealed to the countrymen to make fitness their lifestyle. He enumerated upon the changes technology has brought about in every individual’s life. These changes have adversely affected modern man’s life.

CBSE took the initiative to further implement the Fit India Movement by involving all schools affiliated to it by instructing them to celebrate Fitness Week in the second or third week of November 2019. The schools were instructed to organize various health promoting activities such as yoga, aerobics, essay and poetry writing competitions.

The celebration of the fitness week in schools will surely have a great impact on spreading this movement across the nation.
