Passé Composé is a tense which indicates the time has just passed. It is used only when hours, minutes are concerned and you have to change it in the past.

Words that act as a hint to Passé Composé are: Hier

Now for the formation,

Passé Composé : subject +avoir/être+ past participle+rest of sentence

Now for formation of past participle:

For 'er' ending verbs- drop erand add é

For 'ir' ending verbs- drop irand add I

For 're' ending verbs- drop re and add u.

The hint is DR MRS VANDERTRAMPP

Devenir

Revenir

Monter

Rentrer

Sortir

Venir

Arriver

Naître

Descendre

Entrer

Retourner

Tomber

Rester

Aller

Mourir

Passer

Partir

Now, always remember these verbs. They will take the verb conjugation as être.

For Example- Je suis allé à Paris.

All other verbs EXCEPT the verbs mentioned above and ALL REFLEXIVE VERBS will take avoir as the verb.

For Example: J'ai Parlé en Anglais.

#Rules:

1. The past participle will agree with the subject only when the verb used is être and NOT avoir

For example: Nous allons parlé en Anglais

BUT

Nous sommes arrivés à Paris

Similarly, for il/Elle and ils/elles

For Example: Il/Elle a parlé

Ils/Elles ont parlé

Il/Elle est sorti(e)

Ils/Elles sont sortis(es)

# For agreement, singular male: no change

plural male: add s

singular female: add e

plural female: add es

How to do negative

add ne.....pasbefore and after the verb and NOT the participle

For Example: Il n'a pas parlé.

How to do interrogative

Inversion of the verb and subject and add ?

For Example: A-t-Elle parlé?

Now here are some verbs that use irregular past participles: the photo is in the start of the answer.

The passé composé is the most used past tense in the modern French language. It is used to express an action that has been finished completely or incompletely at the time of speech, or at some time in the past.
