therefore my age = 3x

after 5 years

3x + 5 = 2.5 ( x + 5 )

3x +5 = 2.5x + 12.5

3x - 2.5x = 12.5 - 5

0.5x = 7.5

x = 7.5 ÷ 0.5

x=15

Hence my son's age = x = 15

my age = 3x = 3×15 = 45
