IN THE ABOVE FIGURE,

I and M are the intersecting lines.

HERE,

i) x+3x+40° = 180°

(°•°being sum of the angles of straight line)

or, 4x = 180°-40°

or, x = 140°

ii) y = 3 × 35°

(°•°being vertically opposite angle)

•°• y =105°

iii) z = x+40°

= 35°+40°

= 75°

•°• z = 75°

x + 40 + 3x = 180 ( sum of the angles of the straight line )

x + 3x = 180 - 40

x + 3x = 140

4x = 140

x = 140/4

x = 35

y = 3 x 35( vertically opposite angle )

y = 105

z = x + 40

z = 35 + 40

z = 75
