The night Hari ran away with all the money and returned due to his conscience pricking him, Anil knew what had happened, however, he knew that Hari had learnt his lesson. He believed in Hari Singh and forgave him. Therefore he didn't confront him about it and started paying him regularly.
(ii) Griffin was described as lawless in the story footprints without feet. This is because he used his discovery for fulfilling his selfish needs. He set his landlord's house on fire, ran away, stole clothes and food from various shops, robbed the innkeeper and his wife and fooled them. He also hit the police officers and hit the people who tried to catch him and ran away.
