 \huge{ \underline{ \overline {\mid{ \mathfrak{ \pink{ \:  \: ANSWER \:  \: } \mid}}}}}

I asked him, " Who is the teacher ?"

This sentence is in Direct speech.

Here,

I asked him is the Reporting clause and

Who is the teacher is the Reported clause.

So, this sentence in Indirect speech will be :-

I asked him who the teacher was.

\star \: \: \underline{\underline{\mathsf{\purple{\: RELATED \:  \: INFORMATION \:}}}}

In the Direct Speech of the given sentence,

The Reported Clause is a Interrogative Sentence with Wh questioning word and the Reporting Clause is in Past Tense.

So, in the Indirect Speech ,

The Reported Clause will be joined with the Reporting Clause by using the given questioning word Who .

As the Reported Clause in the Direct Speech is in Past Tense , in Indirect Speech we have to change the form of Tense.

As per the rule of Speech / Narration,

If the Reported Clause is in Interrogative Sentence in Direct Speech, then in Indirect Speech the Question Mark (?) is replaced by Full Stop (.) .
