i) At 1.70 atm, a sample of gas takes up 4.25L. If the pressure in the gas is increased to 2.40 atm, what will the new volume be? *
ii) A gas at 40.0°C occupies a volume of 2.32L. If the temperature is raised to 75.0°C, what will the new volume be if the pressure is constant? *

i)

P1 = 1.70 atm

V1 = 4.25 L

P2 = 2.40 atm

P1V1 = P2V2

1.70×4.25 = 2.40×V2

7.2250/2.40 = V2

V2= 3.010 L

ii)

T1 = 40°C

V1 = 2.32L

T2 = 75°C

V1/T1 = V2/T2

2.32/40 = V2/75

0.058× 75 = V2

V2= 4.35 L
