I bought 100kgs of potatoes last week, of which exactly 99% was water. I had to make make chips so I put them for drying in the sun for a few days and when they had dried a little the total water content reduced to 98%.

What was the total weight of the potatoes now?

Given,

Weight of potatoes = 100kgs

water percentage in the potatoes = 99%

weight of water in 100 kg potatoes = 99kgs

After the loss of 1% of water,

Weight of potatoes,

= 98× 99/100

= 9702/100

= 97kg. ..

Water percentage in the potatoes = 99%
Weight of water in 100 kg potatoes = 99kgs
Weight of potatoes = 100kgs
After the loss of 1% of water,

Weight of potatoes,

= 98× 99/100

= 9702/100

= 97kg.
