Answer:

Concept:

  • We need to understand the statement and create the algebraic expression using the given statement.
  • Consider x be the unknown value in the algebraic expression.
  • Usually, one of the following four forms—addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division—should be used for the algebraic expression.
  • To find the value of x, move the variable to the left and the other values to the right.
  • Simplify the values to determine the result.

Given:

Number of fruits in a bag is

  • All orange except 15.
  • All mangoes except 20.
  • All banana except 25.

To find:

We need to find number of fruits in a bag.

Solution:

Let x be the number of fruits in the bag.

So,

Number of Oranges = x-15

Number of Mangoes = x-20

Number of banana =x-25

Total number of fruits is the sum of number of oranges, number of mangoes and number of banana.

⇒  x= (x-15) + (x-20) +(x-25)

⇒  x= x-15+x-20+x-25

⇒  x = x+x+x-(15+20+25)

⇒  x= 3x-60

⇒  x-3x=-60

⇒  -2x=-60

⇒  x = \frac{60}{2}

⇒  x=30

Number of fruits in the bag is 30.

Number of Oranges = x-15=30-15=15

Number of Mangoes = x-20=30-20=10

Number of banana =x-25=30-25=5

Therefore, Number of fruits in the bag is 30.
