Concept:

Zero of the polynomial is the value of variable x, where the given polynomial becomes zero means when a polynomial is equals to zero i.e having a value of zero then it is known as a Zero polynomial.

Given:

Polynomial px² - x + 1 = 0.

And, Sum of zeros = -2

Find:

We are asked to find the value of p in the given polynomial.

Solution:

We have,

px² - x + 1 = 0

Here,

a = p and

b= -1

Now,

Sum of zeros = -b/a

-2 = -(-1)/p

⇒ (-2)p = 1

p = -1/2

Hence, the value of p in the given polynomial is (-1/2).
